@RR Homestead Awesome - finally closed!!!! YAY!! And wrapping your head around it --- that'll take a year-ish. Took about that long here - and we built it and lived in a 5th wheel for 5 months of that.
That's actually good to know. I was beginning to wonder what was wrong with me after all this and not excited. Maybe once I've seen it for myself it will be more real.

Because he had things to do and didn't get an early start to the day, these places were not a priority, and wasn't counting on the forecast to be accurate... so wasn't going to "be on the safe side".... I made the comment that the ones we just moved to Grants, behind me; needed a roll even though they had a good amount of stockpiled grass...which he grumbled but did put one in there... I see where they have really worked on it since yesterday... They need to pick through the snow... and a roll is not going to "go bad" sitting out there or in the long stack of hay....no more snow cover than sitting in the long rows along the places it is set out now.... BUT.... she had things that needed doing Tuesday, and we had had that rain/ice little bit overnight Mon night... so these other pastures did not rate high on the priority list...

No new calves which is good, but lost one that was 10 days old... found it dead Thurs (yesterday) afternoon... saw a bunch of buzzards... and found it near the hay ring... no apparant reason... on his old cow that was going with the calf to snyders.....maybe she didn't have enough milk, I have no idea... she was going to get sold after this calf... so now she will get sold whenever he has something headed to town... I wanted him to move her and 2 others up to snyders when he moved the 3 heifers and the 2 prolapse cows... but they had gotten turned back out in the calving field...

Why do any of them do ...or NOT DO.... things that should be done.... ????:hu:hu:hu:idunno:idunno
So sorry about the calf Jan! 🙁

So sorry about the calf @farmerjan. That's a hit in many ways. Feel bad for the cow. Price of calves is still silly high so not worth grafting to save the season. Get that cow shipped asap and get her off the feed bill. :(

Good afternoon everyone!
It was SUPER cold here last night! Got down to 35*. 😂Had the tiniest bit of frost on the hay tarps.

So happy to be posting this next bit. We officially OWN a new (to us) home in MO!!!!!!!!!!! Praise the Lord!!!! It's finally over. Did some serious reaming last night and today things were handled while we were sleeping. Waiting on an update from the realtor about how we handle getting keys etc since we let the sellers stay past closing so they weren't stressing on getting everything out in time. But the deed is officially in our name and checks have been received by the sellers. I hate to type this but it really hasn't settled in yet. Not the feelings I expected after so many years of making this happen and so much drama. Especially in the last few weeks. I just can't wrap my head around it yet. I think once my better half is up it will start to sink in.

6 chickens are done cooking. Letting them cool now so I can get the meat off and get the stock started. Sure smells delicious in our house right now. :drool

Time for a second cup of coffee! Major hugs to everyone! Thank you all so much for supporting us since joining here! You all are amazing! Have a great evening!
Congratulations! 🍾🥂
Can't wait to celebrate when you are all moved!💗
