The Great GOAT Roundup! Hahaha!

Coffee is ready. Was chosen yesterday for a jury. Will probably be all week, maybe next week. I’ll be outside soon doing chores in the dark, have to be there at 7:45. It’s a 35-40 minute drive. We are dismissed at 4:45, it was full on dark when I finished up last night. I really wanted to come in the house and discover to my surprise that the Chef Fairy had descended and left me a smoking hot gourmet meal! Alas! That didn’t happen so I had a frozen, cooked in the oven, pot pie.

Up to 70 mph winds today maybe higher with some rain. Temperatures are around 50°F and then will take a leap off a cliff by this weekend. Got half a roof up, surely not going to fight the wind for the other half of the roof, will wait till next week to start again, though I could see the customer ready to explode when I told him that. As you can see Sunday it will hit 37°F cause of we had to shut it down for the rest of the week, he expects me to take my Sunday and go work on his house. What he doesn't know and is none of his business is, I might stop outdoor work for weather, but I still have indoor jobs. This working 7 days a week is burning me out.
Might put my phone on airplane mode till next Monday.

All I can say is God Bless you for those temps and the wind and the stupid guy with his house... Get it under roof as soon as the winds will let you...like you said; and be done with him for the winter... His stupidity for waiting so late to start... With the kind of weather you guys get, I would think that everyone would start in May, get everything under roof by the first of Sept so that all inside work could be done after that.
I think about the poor animals in that cold and wind there...

Okkkk I'll quit whining about the cold here because that looks terrible.
Forecast calls for sleet today and the rest of the week. I see a three day window of no moisture forecasted in the next 10 days, for now...

Dodgeball tournament after school today and the winning kids get to play the teachers. I think I'll warm up for this one so I can have hope that I will be less terrible.
Y'all have a lovely day and stay warm and dry.

My DD is doing sub teaching this winter at an elementary school. School closed yesterday & today -- snow days. No pay for her. But it's 24* out there now & icy roads are more concern than the snow. It's only a couple (unwanted!🥴) inches here but 40 miles NW they got 5-6".....windy rural roads. School she's at is half way between, so closing was good for safety. Courts & public offices are on 2 hr delays. I'm on the outskirts and appears we have about 1.5"-2" out there. I'll be in it soon enough! Not rushing. Animals have barns. 🤷 I'm having coffee. Later I'll move my scheduled jobs from today to Thurs. Only an hr ea at 5 stores, so not driving today!IMG_20251209_090941377.jpg

We have over 8 inches on the ground... temps in the 20's.... was 16 overnight.

All the schools are closed here in a 10+ county area... all the gov't and courts are on a 10 a.m. delayed opening type schedule... Road is pretty much cleared off... they plowed most of the night to get the stuff off..... No melting today.... warmer tomorrow then some more coming in for Friday now.....

Good morning all. 2nd coffee in front of me. Dense fog and frost on the lower pasture. I spent quite a bit of time there yesterday chasing Blind Hazel who was circling unhappily. Caddo and Sophie bum rushed me with Moses’s assistance and were on the retrieval list too. Caddo is an escape artist and Sophie’s problem with sheep is she can’t eat a whole one in one sitting. (Issues from previous owners who were brought up on neglect charges). So I got to ramble after critters. Will do a brisk walk to check fences today.

We got icy rain, then a heavy dusting, then everything froze into ice.
🥶

During the changeover last night...

This morning the wooden steps weren't slippery but I could hear the wood creak from the cold. Walked Caleb to the end of the street, no ice! But the wind was brutal, glad I had a thick scarf to keep it off my face. The cold damp gives me sinus headaches, had a mild one the last two evenings.

I've been invited to lunch with an old work acquaintence, she suggested Outback Steak.
:clap
I like her.

And am enjoying retirement, so far.

Morning all! It's been crazy warm here so far with just a couple of weeks of freezing temps. They said it was going to be mild and wet, I think they actually got it right for once. While I like the warmer temps, we do need some cold too. That will probably happen Jan/Feb.

Not showing my 10 day forecast, you'all will run me out of BYH town!
Home from the MOHS I've got a huge bandage on my lip/chin - directions say no big bites, no conversations, sleep upright, use a straw (will that work with coffee??). and the numbing is starting to wear off - oh joy. But good news is they got it all in one pass.
