Morning all. Navigating a phone update. You know the little balloon that pops up on your phone screen that says xyz will be installed later today- whether you want it or not. No thanks. Not interested. I have my phone the way I want it. I’ll pass. Well after several weeks it beat me, I forgot to turn the phone off overnight. Dang. I get a cheery hello in 12 languages. Icons are redesigned, moved around. Type is smaller, not what an older person needs. Tap this, no THIS now. What is it about phone service and Change? They propel it into life (usually with increased cost) and bask in its chaos. “Ok Boomer” wafts through conversations like a skunky dog. Better service, more options. Shut. Up. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. End of rant. TIL look at my rearranged for my convenience e-mail accounts. Signing off. If I can….

I'm with you on that. Mine did it (or rather DH did it - security and all junk ). Phone says try the new xyz -- looks like you may be able to back out -- did, hate it, can't back out. GGRRRRRR

I’m just guessing that you have an iPhone, because I have the little update icon showing too. I looked it up, and it’s a major overhaul, so I turned off my automatic updates. If you go to settings and click on the update it takes you to this screen:

Yours might not say off like mine does. But if you click on the off (or on) you get this screen:

(Yours might look different now that you’ve updated.)

You can toggle all those to off, and then even if it keeps bugging you to do the update, it will not update until you want to. (I know, too late for this time. But it might help for next time.)

I’m not fond of watching long videos. But I found this one (2 hours!! ) and he systematically goes through all the changes. I’ve been watching it in increments as I feel like it. I have actually found it riveting, and I think once I learn enough about iOS 26, I ought to be able to do the update and not get completely discombobulated.

The iPhone guy that designed liquid glass left Apple after the rollout. It is horrible for anyone with vision issues, period. I hope they role it back in next update.

I haven't caught up on posts yet, I'm just tired, mentally wasted. Heavy fog out there, can't see very far. I have some things to do, catch up stuff and I'm going to tag the new lambs, put Tiny and lambs in the nursery pen and just be.

Mine keeps telling me I need to update but don't have enough space left to do it so it must be a big update. Perfect! Not deleting a thing

And they often turn the auto update back on after some of the updates. I always check it after a forced update to be sure it's off again. We are transitioning over to degoogled android phones but will continue with current iphone for all house/ family trust stuff then get rid of the number and email once it's all completed. The amount of spam I'm getting now is insane. "We do not sell your information" uh huh. Ya right. That's why suddenly I'm inundated with spam. Will be getting a new MO phone number too

Good evening all!
Made some supplement capsules and did dishes. Already on cup number 2 of coffee for the night. About to head out and button up the trailer roof and get to packing/loading it up. One small spot needed an extra piece of sealer tape. Need to milk and get more cream to last until I get home and make cat food. Don't quite have enough to last until I get home and I don't expect DH to have to deal with it.
Might be back tonight to see how everyone is doing. Depends on how froggy we get loading the trailer. If I'm not back tonight y'all have a great evening!

When I have leftovers I often freeze them for future meals. I'd like to get away from using plastic containers. Anyone use glass for freezing?

I freeze in glass. Allegedly it can weaken the glass but I've yet to have a problem.

You need the wide mouth canning jars, not the narrow neck ones. Friend used narrow neck style and expansion during freeze snapped neck off.

I freeze in glass. I use canning jars all of the time, when I make bone broth, left over soup, etc...

Good point. I only freeze in wide mouth.
