Good afternoon all!
Sorry for venting last night.
Today's been productive so far. Made the first batch of peanut brittle. Hoping to get 4 done tonight at the least. Planning to try and get packages out tomorrow so that's done. Brittle is all they are waiting on. Usually we bake a lot of goodies and a few other candies but this year it isn't happening. DH woke up early so he decided to stay up and now is out working on the vehicles and trailer in prep for next weeks trip. I've started packing more boxes from the house this afternoon as I am working. If it can go now I'm packing instead of putting it away. Figure that's just steps closer with each chore. Really hope we can make good progress tonight. DH ordered me a plug in lunch box for the trip. It allows me to heat my food while I drive. Got good reviews. I also ordered the window curtains and the back seat air mattress for my rig so I can take naps along the way. Hopefully things are coming together for my trips.
Time to go make another batch of brittle then probably go milk. Trying to stock up on cream for me to take and DH to have plenty while I'm gone. Trying to think of all our needs and the animals needs so there's no worries while I'm gone. DH will have enough to do with the extra work. Want to make it as easy on him as possible.
Y'all have a great evening!
:hugs
You're doing great - and packing rather than putting away brilliant! (venting -- definitely ok, ya' need to get it out).

Thank you everyone so much! Really appreciate the support. Y'all are truly a blessing to me and us. DH appreciates it he just doesn't know it. Being able to chat here really helps us both.

Got a lot accomplished so far tonight. Got 6 batches of brittle made. Think that's it for brittle for the night. Made a batch for DH so he didn't feel left out. All Christmas packages that need to go out are ready. I didn't get them labeled yet but I will. I'll drop them off on the way out (hopefully) on monday. It's too late now to get the mail to pick up in the morning. Still way ahead on them so I'm happy. DH has made a ton of progress on the vehicles. I didn't know how much he still wanted to do to be sure everything was as safe as possible for me. When I went out to check on him he had the tires off and the hubs apart on the trailer. Just making sure ever bearing was packed properly. Even lubed my doors on the truck and re-glued the weather stripping on the bed cover that's been coming off for a while. Now he's back to rebuilding calipers on the work rig. Tomorrow we are tackling loading the trailer. I think we have a plan now which is nice. I got more boxes packed in the house in between brittle batches which will make a dent tomorrow. Also going to load furniture. That will take up some trailer space and clear out the house a bit. Hopefully that will make it feel like something has been packed for real. Everywhere we walk in the house is piles of empty or partially full boxes. It looks like a tornado went through and dumped boxes everywhere. Feeling overwhelmed at the moment. Mostly because it doesn't feel possible to head out monday as I'd hoped. We'll see how we do tomorrow. I did text with the previous owners and they are waiting for me to get there so they can help me unload the first load. They are so kind. They say we've done so much for them that they want to help but I don't know what we've really done for them. :idunno It will be huge to have the help as this will most likely be the most boxes load. The rest of the loads will probably be bigger stuff and equipment for the most part. It's gunna work out somehow. I just pray that we don't get robbed in between being there. Thinking about putting camera's up as much as I never want to have cameras up again. Just so we can monitor things there and call the sheriff if there's a break in.

Y'all are the best! Thanks again for all the support. You are truly a wonderful group of folks. I've missed being around good folks. :hugs:hugs:hugs

4:50am....getting first cup! Just came in from snatching 4 roos off roost & into cage. They're going to the sale today👍 That'll teach you to crow at 3:30!! These are from spring/summer hatches. Nice big boys. Extras.

Now I'll have breakfast. Earlier than wanted.

Checked goat barn while out there. It's 24* out but much warmer in the big run in with body heat from 20 goats! Big difference. That's good. Things are really crispy out with heavy frost. My first before daylight check this winter. It'll happen a lot next month when kidding starts. So far, no bagging but some really big guts going on. Thinking 17 to kid. Reduced herd by 23 this year.

I slept until 5:30. No heavy murder trial on my mind, no 3:30 wake up to get animals cared for, just sleep. I'm sore from sitting and ache all over. We convicted the defendant of Capital Murder. He was on trial for killing his mother, but he also shot his step father in the back of the head. A few of the jurors wanted to read the transcripts of the text messages between him and his wife the day of the murders, just for their own benefit of doing the right thing. Then we voted, it was unanimous that he was guilty. It took 30 minutes. His wife had cut a deal, 40 years, then she gets deported to Mexico. These were two horrible people. I am glad that i was on that jury, glad that these two are gone to prison. It was explained to us at the beginning that punishment for him was not death, but life in prison with no parole if convicted of Capital Murder, lesser charges of murder would have parole.

I have twin lambs born yesterday while I was gone. I'll scrapie tag them this morning and hug them just a little or maybe a lot and thank God for the good life I have.

Been snowing over past 24 hours straight, yeah I’m taking the day off.
The time of the year to avoid “failure to maintain lane” tickets as you just drive wherever

The weather here is weird. Rest of the state is getting blasted with snow and cold, but it's a high of 40, and I think our snow is going to melt. Forecast calls for it to be sunny through Monday, then snow as long as they can predict after that. Unluckily for me, I am trying to make it back to Wyoming next weekend, the weather does not look like it will do me any favors.
Headed into school for some testing, I'll get lots of work done. Then maybe run this afternoon, and either Bingo in town, or make cookies tonight.
