Weather update for home. 25-45 mph sustained winds with gusts of 60-70 mph. So glad we got those trees down, but there are two more that we left, because they are so big and one has a split. Maybe it will come down, but I hope not. Don't want hubs out there cutting up any more trees.

Got my new washing machine delivered. That’s all. They were gonna drop it on the porch, but were nice enough to put it in the utility room. Still can’t wash any clothes. Lowe’s extra fees you to death. I didn’t pay the haul off old one fee, so they didn’t hook up the new one. They still hauled off the old one. Can’t win. I’m disgusted, never ever will ever buy appliances from Lowe’s again.

Lowes is awful, so I have been told.

There's a small mattress and appliance store in town. Their prices are higher than Lowes, but they have competent delivery men, and great customer service. I have purchased all my major appliances from them since we moved here 20+ years ago.

When my shed refrigerator died I bought a new refrigerator. The delivery guys were competent, helpful. One told me to not empty the older working refrigerator in the house until after they plugged in the new one and it started cooling. Once it started getting cold they told me to start transferring food. THEN they took the dead refrigerator out of the shed, put my old working one in its place after I transferred the food, and they leveled the new refrigerator in the kitchen, SERVICE!

I usually tip them, too. They like that.

I'm glad they brought it in for you, that speaks a little to the employees, but it would have been nice if they'd gone the extra step for you. It wouldn't have taken very long. Did you buy new hoses for it or keep the old ones?

My ears are ringing too. Gheesh, you’d think they could ring out a catchy tune now and then.

Eventually that would drive us crazy too, because its job is to be annoying, so I doubt it would be anything we'd want to listen to...lol

Are you bringing a handtruck? We bought a decent one years ago, and it's saved our backs many a time.

Yep. Bringing the hand truck with me for boxes and 2 flat moving dollies were just delivered. Those should help there as well. We don't have concrete here so never found a need for them. If I can back the trailer up to the walk out basement I can unload directly onto concrete so we're hoping these will help with the bigger stuff.

You can get moving dollies at Harbor freight. the Wood squares with wheels at the corners. they are great. You could carry the boxes to the house, set them on the dollies, then roll them where they go. Also great for big furniture. I bought 2 just to move the heavy fake fireplace TV stand I have.

Just had 2 delivered today. Hadn't thought about putting boxes on them! Great idea!

Make sure you bring a really soft smooshy pillow to drive with -- you might need it while driving for your back.

Good idea. I've been having a lot of tailbone pain recently I'm worried about with the drive. Hadn't thought about a back pillow. Will be getting one. Thanks!!

Coffee's ready. Time to get back to packing. Thought DH would be getting up early again but didn't hear his alarm Maybe in another 45 minutes. I'm letting him sleep. We need to get stuff moved but he has to work too and he needs rest. Hope to make good progress before work tonight. Would really like to start packing to get out of here and on the road.

I bring an old bath towel on long trips. It can be rolled up into a neck support, or folded into a lumbar support.
