Today seems to be the day to find out people/businesses that we've used in the past have stopped within the last month. Earlier today was our butcher. Just now tried to make an appointment for a sperm check for Obi and was told they no longer do that - stopped about 2 weeks ago. Only doing storage now. 😵 - what next? geeze. I'll have to check regular vets later today. '26 isn't looking like it's starting very well. One dog and two businesses down. Afraid to look, call or try to do anything at this point.

And I'm over here complaining about 48* with a rare northern wind. 🥶 I can't remember northern wind up until about 3 years ago and now it's happening several times per winter. Darn near ripped all the flat roofs off the barns a few years back. Them old barns weren't made for north winds. It chills me to the bone it's so cold. Gunna have to put thermals on and grab the hand warmers before I go pick up the calf.
Had a nice visit with SIL today. Got a mani pedi. Had lunch and coffee which I am paying for now. :sick It's been a long time since I've eaten out and holy moly the prices! :epPoor mani/pedi gal apparently doesn't know what country living is like. I wore my good clothes/shoes but they got dirty just getting out of the driveway. Everything is a sloppy mess right now and still a lot of standing water in the fields. Had to put the truck in 4 wheel drive just to turn it around with the little stock trailer. So strange so early in the season. She should be glad it's not barefoot season.
Need to finish chores before going to the dairy. I get stuck there for hours and the critters don't understand the delays in feeding.
Feral kitty is hiding her head in the corner of her cage and just accepting her petting. Crazy. No growling or hissing or swatting so far. I did pray last night that God make it known his plan for her so loudly that we'd not mistake it. I didn't think it would be THIS loud. Currently I have her nicknamed Betty aka Betty Boop because her eyes are huge and beautiful and her face kind of looks like Betty Boops. I don't know how DH feels about that name but Floofy isn't a name. 😂 I still don't know her fate as far as being adopted or an indoor cat here. I really don't want another indoor cat. DH is dead set on not leaving her here when we go. Time will tell I guess. Still just floored she just tucks her head in and takes the petting.
Off I go to finish chores so I can head to pick up the calf. Y'all have a great night! :hugs

Coffee is ready. Lambs woke me up at 2, stayed in bed hoping they’d go back to sleep, not a chance. Got up at 3, made bottles, put Depends on them, cleaned dog crate tray with Clorox spray, put down new potty pads. Tinkerbelle is asleep at my feet, Mabelline is asleep in my lap, twitching a little. She’s probably having a nightmare about being born.
I have a doctor appointment this morning, 50’s ladies lunch at 1, neighbors Sarah and Catherine are thrilled to keep 2 babies!
I desperately want another cup of coffee but would wake up the babies….. guess I’ll wait.

Good morning all!
Long night at the dairy. I'm guessing it's the cold and excessive mud we're dealing but but holy moly the cows were NAUGHTY tonight. Did some milking for a few hours then moved onto feeding the overstuffed barn full of calves. Got both of the gals (mom does the milking and daughter cares for the calves) to bed early so that was worth it. Having been up all day it was rough to get through the night. It's now 32* outside. I'm chilled to the bone. Sitting under the heating blanket trying to unwind before bed. Calf is home and bedded down in a hay bed in the trailer for the rest of the night. His soon to be mom is out on pasture and her current calves are up in the front of her pasture. Will feed everyone early this evening. He just had a bottle so he'll be good and hungry for early supper.
Hoping to process a sheep or two this weekend and get them done and in the freezer. That will lighten the work load as well as the feed bill a bit. Then all that will be left is the 3 goats and we'll be done will all processing until the remaining chickens go just before the final move or so.
My eye's are getting heavy the more I warm up so i'll head to bed.
Y'all have a great day! :hugs

Took me a day to recover from Wednesday wrenchathon as I would call it, finished installing transmission/clutch, brakes on one wheel, wheel seals and bearings on another and putting new fuel tanks on in a day. Good thing I don't put myself out there anymore to wrench there, I don't miss it. High of mid 30's today with high winds that isn't in the weather forecast.
For the first time in 16 years they are putting rock down on the main road out here, same stuff I deliver for folks. So far the wife has gotten one flat, it's sharp rock that even before this it sliced the sidewall on one of mine from spinning the tires in the mud that was there. What you pay to live in the city or close to town is made up out here by your tires, fuel to get to town and wear and tear. Going on one year and two months on one set of tires and it's time for new ones with less than 30k miles.

Good Morning!

Another chilly but sunny day is forecast. I took Caleb for a ride to the park that has nature trails, was going to take us on one of the longer trails (.6 mi) but nature called me  so I had to cut it short. Probably will not go back later, since it's Friday and I have to be here at home for a delivery. Blocks are scheduled to arrive between 11:30 and 3:30pm. Nope, will have to postpone the long walk.

May go mow the leaves in the front yard in a bit. I have a hunch that the chickens would appreciate the addition of chopped leaves to their run.
