Good morning all!
Just picked up another bull calf from the dairy.
Another huge bull calf. The sires name is Bulldozer and I tell ya it's fitting for the calves coming out of him.
Definitely not a heifer bull. Going to keep the two brutes on our current milker and take the small calf that's recovering from being sick and put him on the heifer that will calve this week. He should be completely healthy by then and since he's small and slower he should be a good fit for the heifer. I'll just toss the placenta on him and he should be hers pretty quickly. For now all 3 calves are on our current milker. Her eyes sure got wide when she saw a 3rd one coming.
She's currently less than impressed with her herd of holsteins but she feeds them well. Hopefully just a matter of another week or so and she'll start to accept them. Going to be chaos if the heifer calves and I'm still working on grafting. Wrong time of year for this.
Super foggy yet again. It's not normal to have this much fog for so long. It's been weeks at a time this winter. Then a week or so break for rain then back to socked in fog. We really need some sunshine. Grass should really go nuts once we get some sun. Forecast is fog for the next 14 days. Hope they are wrong.
Think it's time for some tea before bed. Y'all have a fantastic day!
