I couldn't do y'all's summers, but this winter is something else, and I hear the worst is still to come. Balmy 8 outside, might not need the insulated pants for my walk to work this morning. Really do not miss having horses in this weather.
Red Bull is downstairs, going to be a longer day so I'll have some extra, and then get the Keurig going when I get to work. I keep thinking I don't need apple cider daily, but it feels good on my throat.
Y'all stay warm!

I can say I have lived in every climate that is on the blue marble. With that said, limited exposure in the extreme temperatures to any climate is the key. There is very few happy medium places in this country and they are crowded, so suck it up buttercups cause I suggest picking a disaster you can live through as everywhere has them.
Snow is on its way right now with high winds so prep for snow drifts and hope for the best as temperatures plummet throughout the week here.

Morning all. For the Texas folks here- eyes on the weather end of the week. Cold, ice, snow, people reacting. Potential disaster for the unprepared. Good News- most of my lambing is done, bottle lamb is doing better and the Lasko space heater has been a champ. My horrible mommy ewe had twins and has not been seen nursing them. They appear to be thriving, day three. Internet cable is buried. House is ready for weather. Barn needs some work. There aren’t a lot of things that beat having ducks in a row. Edit everybody eyes on weather. Big icy system central, southern US.

Esther is no better, no worse. She pecked at the mash I made, and oregano leaves, but don't think she injested much. She drank a little.

The flocks each got a flake of straw, and red grapes, happy!

Caleb and I went to the local nursery, bought two more straw bales as I'd opened the last one this week. Chicken crumble should be here by tomorrow.

Got a call from a coworker, they finally hired a new coordinator, she starts in February. I'm happy for them.

Regarding eastern NC weather...I prefer to deal with heat and humidity than subzero temps and snow, I had enough of that growing up to last me to my dying day. The plus is the majority of people are truly caring for their neighbors, and the growing season is extended, 8 months frost free most years.

ME, TOO!! Cold is hard for me to deal. Heat & humidity I can handle pretty well, suffering when we get in triple digits. Not comforting weather but cold is worse for me. I lit my propane stove a little while ago....held off thru the warmth of last couple weeks but, supposedly frigid arrive this weekend. 🤷. I'm ready. This thing can get house tooooo hot -- I just run pilot for a couple hrs then.

ETA. Just ordered a non electric fan for top of stove, where heat turns fan blades to blow into room. Ceiling fans in bedrm & dingrm help circulate too.

A couple years ago I bought a silk-filled comforter, as down-filled is too hot. The comforter keeps me toasty when it gets cold (for us) here.

Esther went outside for a bit this afternoon, seemed happier to be with her flock. However, I'm going to bring her inside tonight, it's going to be very cold.

I'll just saw that on news!!! 🤬 I am not wanting.

So 3"-12" leaves a lot of room 🤣 but, 6+ seems to be the consensus for all the predictions. That's just bad. Heavy work schedules for next week, that'll change cause I'm not driving if it's that bad! My area will just be at a stand still.

I'll get more hay in before weekend. That'll be needed. Cold & in barns -- I'm only one that'll be trudging thru it 😱 Extra water tubs filled, etc. Fuel for generator, that I'm praying we won't need.

Get this -- predict 58 for Thurs & 40s Fri.

PLEASE!!!!! Don't anyone think about kidding!!! If you start bagging you'll get solitary/barn stall 😡 unhappy me to feed you.
