It's funny to read the local FB groups out here on when they ask if anyone else loses power or who has power on already. I like to reply back; I still got lights on, oh that's right I'm on solar, I never lost power :gig
Going on 7 years living off grid, started off with two 6V batteries and a generator, didn't even have internet or phone the first couple of years out here.
Thinking of going backwards and getting a mule with a cart for servicing customers out here.

Speaking of which, usually when it snows and tire tracks melt first to mud, not here. Snow blew away with the wind and left the tire tracks.View attachment 125053

They’re tossing around words like catastrophic and phrases like “weeks to recover.” Let’s hope they’re wrong.
I swear when they do that - they are trying to be the #1 news story and need more attention than they could get otherwise.
There was an earthquake here a few days ago -- "predictors" sent a warning out to all phones, I'd just stepped out the shower (I finished cleaning stalls and weed whacking) DH runs into the bathroom saying EARTHQUAKE! and stands under a doorway (seriously looked hilarious to me) aaaaannnnnnnddddd - NOTHING.
:lol::lol: all those weather folks, apps, and predictors - Little Boy Who Cried Wolf --- almost every single one of them.
All that said - I hope you all are fine and make it through whatever Mother Nature throws your way.

The contractor clearing fencing tapped a power pole yesterday causing a brief power outage when it arced. Today he finished the job and sent the line to the ground.

Thankfully it was pouring rain so the fire in tree debris quickly went out. But we got to spend the next hour standing in the rain talking to fire department and waiting on Centerpoint. We all looked like drowned rats.
I wish you could force Centerpoint to actually clear their own easements. 😡

I love those! We tried hiding them from our kids, didn't want to give them any ideas.

Sadly we failed. Happily the only things that they copied were snow goons! We had years of snow goons! Snowmen looking through the livingroom windows, right over the shoulder of someone sitting in the best chair. And lines of them down the driveway. Sometimes zombie ones, sometimes mutilated ones... always hilarious.

Good morning!
Hubs surprised me for our upcoming anniversary, 41 years. He wants to go someplace warm, so we're taking a week and flying to Florida on the 3rd, our anniversary is the 2nd, but the flights were cheaper after that date. I figured with the remodel we'd go somewhere more local, have a nice dinner, stay the night. We'll try to find an inexpensive fishing charter, that's always a lot of fun and we booked a night at a dinner theater he found, to watch Fiddler on the Roof. Should be a relaxing trip. We'll be in the Fort Myers area, enjoying the Gulf of America...lol We haven't been in that area since Ian hit, they are still rebuilding.

Then back home, put our noses to the grindstone and finish the remodel.

Have a beautiful day!💗

What a beautiful anniversary present! Have lots of fun!

I slept until almost 7, fed Mabelline and Tinkerbelle, then put them outside in the front yard. The dog crate is an unholy mess, having my coffee before I tackle that.

I’ll be drawing up water for livestock, got a 300 gallon galvanized stock tank. Plenty of pots and containers for water in the house. Plus buckets of water on the bathtub for flushing toilets. Gonna cut water off Friday afternoon. Don’t want busted pipes, open all faucets. I have plenty of pine shavings that I’ll put in sheep shelters.

@Blue Sky after this freeze, we get to do it again next weekend.
