Coffee is ready. It is white outside with heavy frost. It's 27, with a high of 56 today. I'm getting a load of dirt, I need to build up the pen where Max is. It's soft now and he has stomped it into hoof holes. It will be a mess when I add dirt and it rains. But at least it wont be standing water. Going to set hay today too. One for middle field, one for @Margali 's sheep and 2 for front field. I left Tinkerbelle and Mabelline outside last night in a pen by themselves. I don't want them to have to fight for feed, I've put a lot into these two, and I want them to continue to grow and flourish. They will stay on the bottle for 3 or 4 more weeks. Tinkerbelle will get a lot of milk, but I can't very well wean her and give Mabelline milk, so she gets a free ride.

We are sending it back as soon as we can!
I volunteer to take the snow!

Another morning where it's 0 out, but I'll take that. High of 29 which has never sounded so balmy.
I act like I spend time outside. I walk 5 minutes to work, and 5 minutes home, and that is it, unfortunately.
No baby chicks yesterday, hoping for some when I get in this morning. I'll head in shortly just to see.

@Poka_Doodle what are snow pants? You mentioned them a day or two back. I bundle up in tights, flannel lined jeans, long sleeve thermal shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweat hoodie, Carhart overalls and a Carhart coat. And I'm still freezing! Bundled up like a thousand pound walrus!
Think ski pants, waterproof, insulated.
Snow pants are outerwear designed for outdoor winter activities, specifically to keep the wearer warm, dry, and protected from snow, wind, and cold temperatures. They are typically made from waterproof or water-repellent materials like nylon or polyester, often combined with insulation (such as down or synthetic fibers) for added warmth. Key features include reinforced knees and seat for durability, adjustable waistbands, ankle zippers for easy on/off over boots, and gaiters to prevent snow from entering.

Snow pants are essential for winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and casual snow activities such as building snowmen or walking through deep snow. While often used interchangeably with "ski pants" or "snowboard pants," they are generally designed for broader winter use and may prioritize insulation and protection over the high mobility focus seen in sport-specific designs. They are also sometimes referred to as winter pants or snow bibs (when in a bib-style overalls format).
We had snow pants as kids, for playing in the snow.

What do you wear on your head besides the hoodie? Maybe the Carhartt coat has a hood? Because I’m pretty sure one layer of sweatshirt hood is not enough.

Most of the time I only wear the hood that’s on my Eddie Bauer chore coat (vintage from the 90s.) But if it’s windy with a harsh wind chill factor, I add a balaclava underneath.

We had a saying in Girls Scouts: if your feet are cold, put on a hat.

Heat rises, and you lose it out the top of your head, and that makes the rest of you cold.

I've been wearing a pullover hoodie with a scarf wrapped arond my neck and head over the hood. I add my down jacket over the hoodie for below 20° or prolonged time outside.

It's good they can be outside now. Cleaning out their crate had to be getting old.

Our property is mostly sand, except where we've cultivated it. My horse pen was perfect, no mud when it rained and it drained very quickly. Could you bring in sand instead?

His stall was another matter, that's the only place he would 💩 💩 💩 :barnie🤣

Checked on everyone this morning. Old ewe died, not expected but not surprising. Everyone else in good shape. Was 45 yesterday and will be in the low 50’s today. Nights are still in the mid twenties. The ranch is leaveable with 4 wheel drive which I don’t have but I’ve got what I need so no worries. I think the driveway hill will melt today. Have a good and safe day everyone.

Good morning all! It's currently 26 with an expected high of 43... going to be a balmy day...lol It was 29 when I first woke up at 6:30.

Helping my son with some of his workload today. Stuffing around 300 envelopes with W-2's. Thankful it's not over a 1000...lol When they were running full, that's what it was. They are short on staff right now as his boss (our friend) is trying to figure out how to go forward after losing his orchards last year. 🙁 He's hoping to lease back one of his orchards, to add to another he leases.

Finally enjoying a cup of tea, I don't usually have anything when I first wake up.

Have a beautiful day! 💗
