It's a crime!! I feel the same way -- start them at home! I mean I have seed for every type, if some don't germinate, ok....still get more than I need to plant. An entire pack of seed is same or less than cost of one plant. Some people don't have time/place to start them but I do. In fact, I hope to plant a lot of these older seed this yr. Grow or not, need to reduce supply 😁

Uhhh, need to get the garden tilled soon :hide
But pots/seed/starter fill, I'm loaded. Barn clean out time for garden use. I love springtime but, harvest is best.
When looking for garden plants Lowes is very expensive. We do have a nursery in town which still sells 4-6 seedling packs for about $2. And since most of their started plants are done on the premises the quality is better.

I think emotions are at a high right now for both of us. That's not helping things. It was a bad day all the way around.
That would totally be me. 😂 That's what MIL did when FIL got a visit. Walked right into the house and let him face the music. 😂 Granted it really wasn't an excessive size pile but it wasn't 10 x 10. The funny thing is usually I can take the bucket and make the pile 10 x 10 ish by smashing everything down with the bucket. Most of the pile is from AIL (FIL's sister) anyways. Honestly if I could I would take a ticket at this point to burn the berry bushes and their out of control bamboo they thought years ago would be a good idea to plant in the ground. Especially at a fence line. Bamboo is awful and it would tickle me pink to light it on fire and watch it burn. I'd only have to fix that fence one more time if it burned up. 😂

Sounds like you needed the sleep. Sorry about letting the old ewes go. I know how you feel. In prep for our move we sold the majority of our herd. I cried so hard when they sold. They all behaved really well. Everyone at the auction who bought them offered them back to us for free. Surprised me. They didn't know why we were severely thinning the herd. They still don't know we are leaving. It will be hard to say goodbye to a lot of people there. From people I worked with for years to our buyers who always try and buy our stock for top dollar. As you know we have another old one going in a few weeks now. Will be a sad day again. I need to keep telling myself that. Can't hang onto the past. Have to make room for the future. Wow that hits me hard today. Thank you for that. :hugsApplies to much more than just this cow.

Glad you slept late. Must have needed it.
So jealous everyone starting seeds. That's what small unhealthy plants have been here for a long time now. Guess I thought that was normal prices. It's so weird not starting our garden already. I can't remember the last time we didn't have a garden and we won't this year for sure at the new house. Especailly after seeing the 9 does and fawns currently eating the yard and my bushes and trees. 🤦‍♀️I'm actually finding I am having anxiety over not growing our food this year. I think we are ok as I've been stocking up every bit I can for a few years now but we've had a few bad seasons lately. I don't really have inventory currently with it being scattered between two places right now. Guess we'll see if there's farmers markets that are legit farmers markets at home and stock up on anything missing that way for the year. Maybe I can find the amish and get things from them. That's a dream I've had for years.
I don't know what USDA planting zone you will be in, but here in NC (we're 8a) we can plant tomatoes until July or August as our last frost date is early November. You could also do some container gardening.

We planned on doing raised beds there. There's so much rock we're not sure we want to try and fight an in ground and we've been doing some container trials here the last couple years and really do like it. It just occurred to me I don't even know the zone there yet. 😂 I should really look into that. I'm sure DH has already done a ton of research on that.

Definitely knowing the zones help. Though that's just a guide. LOL -- BUT that may be enough, I know it took me forever - several years - to actually figure out growing things here in So Cal because of all of our micro-climates. It was so much easier in the midwest with one zone. Our first year in So Cal - we had a lot of fruit trees. A couple apple trees too (low chill - though I had no idea then). I saw apples on the tree, good size, in June and thought Holy Cow they'll be the biggest apples EVER come Sept!! They were ready in July, I didn't even try one - they rotted on the tree as I waited for September. DUH :duc  .

We were watching the herd of does in the yard on cameras this morning at the house and what do I see? A skunk make a b-line from one of the pastures towards the house. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep. It went under the front deck. Guess I'll have to figure out trapping it while I'm there and fixing however it's getting into under the deck. 🤦‍♀️

Looked at weather...starting this Wed we're to be in 70s and 80s for at least a week 😳😳. Can hardly believe this. That's fast. No easing into it like normally happens. What a strange weather year! Just commenting, not complaining🤣

Was beautiful mid 60s yesterday until about 5ish. Then winds & cold moved in from nowhere :idunno dropped 20* wham!

That's my morning coffee time, check weather.
