You did not mention the name... I am assuming it is theileriosis ? It has been in Va for several years... and is devastating to some cattle... a purebred breeder lost several animals and a bull when it was first detected in Va and it has spread. It can cause abortions, among other things like high fevers and such.... and once they get it, if they get over it, they carry it for life. Usually once they get past the initial phase, they can go on and breed and produce calves .... It has been found in approx 15-16 states.

You can go to the govt USDA website... and type in theileriosis and there is a fact sheet on it..

We had one cow that aborted that tested positive for it... shipped others that we did not test...

The Asian longhorn tick carries multiple diseases... including the Rocky Mountain spotted fever and the Alpha-Gal allergy that I tested positive to both for... but many different species of ticks now carry multiple tick diseases...

It also will infect sheep and goats and other mammals....
