The yellow jackets and European paper wasps are out in force all of a sudden with the heat. Way more than normal for this time of year. Couple nights ago I noticed we suddenly have slugs. We don't really have slugs. Well clearly we do now. They are everywhere. All over the house walls, the walk ways and they even somehow got into our window screens. Disgusting. Wish we could have free range chickens still. Last night I saw a june bug on the barn wall. :hu It's definitely not june. We rarely see them but usually only end of may early june.
My chickens don't eat slugs, but they do like pillbugs/roly poly bugs.

Well, I finally decided that I should start working on the computer, so I could download Windows 11😡(this still ticks me off) , so I can finally get my taxes done. Anyway, I'm finally ready for the update and it says your computer does not meet the requirements to run Windows 11...:barnie:smackI talked to my son and boy was he being a grouchy old man, saying he didn't have time to mess with it and telling me I should learn to use Linux...blah, blah, blah. I told him to quit being so mean. He did finally take a quick look and said it was able to run the software, but he had disabled something from Microsoft, because it's crap... his words. After he left I went onto the computer to see if I could install the tax software in Linux, easy right... not. Brave, the browser we use in Linux is out of date, okay, let's update it... sounds easy RIGHT... no, I have to reinstall it...:thI left the screens up, so he could see that I was trying and I walked away, without saying anything to him about it. I was done messing with it and grouchy old men... how did my little boy grow up to be a grouchy old man? :huA little while later he brings the computer out and tells me I should vacuum it and then use the blower and get all of the dust out of it. Instead of changing the settings he had decided to go ahead and do an upgrade of the hardware. Make it faster and more powerful...lol I did as he asked. Then he asked me if I had backed everything up...I realized I had missed a few things. He had it set up downstairs, so I went down to finish backing everything up. The mouse wasn't working correctly and I was having a hard time with it... he says to me, "are you drunk?"... no, I'm not drunk and he has never seen me drunk... brat. Finally, he says, move, I'll do it and just assume you want to keep everything. All of this, just so I can file my taxes... why didn't I try to be more incompetent right away...:gig

Nope, nope. I do not bee-lieve such nonsense! It is still March! May = spring :old
Alaska must still be normal!! I don't believe spring either as summer is full force here.

WElllllllllllll -- here DH went to turn on his computer and --------- it's DEAD.
DEAD GONE DEAD, SHEET OVER THE HEAD DEAD
He's a computer geek and more - his hard drive died. total dead. Lost files because he let down on the backups. Now he's got to get it back to working. Parts on order, etc etc etc.
Glad it's not me.

Oh no! I'm so sorry, that really sucks. Truly no way to get anything back?

I know enough to get by, but it's probably, more like, I know enough to get into trouble...lol I have an issue, I tell my son, after accusing me of probably doing something I shouldn't have...I didn't... he sits down in front of the computer and it works perfectly... computers are afraid of him.

Coffee is ready. Going to ride along to pick up 10 round bales of hay this morning. Opportunity knocks, drought is being predicted and I'm getting ahead of the crowd. Layne will do all the work, but I get to get out of the house.

@RR Homestead throw salt on the slugs, they will melt. I hate those nasty things.

I don't use rounds but, sure have considered it. Every year -- esp in winter, as I'm tossing hay in cold, 2X a day -- that's when!! 🤣

Intended to sleep in today, even made sure the 6am alarm was off. But my internal clock didn't get the message. Maybe to bed at 10 & fast asleep factored in. :idunno Makes this coffee time!! 😄 At least I think I slept well & needed to.

@Baymule it'll be good to get out -- just remember, only supervise! Take some ibuprofen first, truck rides can be bumpy.

My DS show grouchy old man attitude, too. :hu

No computer here, my laptop has Win7, so it's gathering dust. I do almost everything on my phone now, though I keep an iPad for FaceTime with my granddaughters.

The hard drives are solid state now, and at work the tech told me that the info can not be recovered. Improvements.

Cars do that, too, act normal for the mechanic.

A REAL issue is goats ... Jump in & on things. Clear 4' like a deer. Think hay is bedding, once they're full. Plus most of mine have horns, so need to be aware of that with fence surrounding, etc. They're not small, either. Some of these are 200# easy. So my waste probably greater than the more docile sheep.

But it is being considered....plus handling "things" that may end up more costly than any "saving" on hay.
