Coffee anyone ?

No rain here, yet. It's breaking up and heading north and south of us. I call it the Red Sea effect, the rain fronts part.

Guess I'll go water my plants again.

51 here for overnight lows. Cloudy, misty... foggy too. Not real dense but overall fog.
CHILLY compared to the highs of 92 and sun the last few days.

Will go out and check the rain gauge here in a bit. We are supposed to get a few hours of no rain today... then back some more this afternoon/eve... WELCOMED moisture... Especially the way it is coming... not too hard, and then time to soak into the ground inbetween...

I had a thought, then I had another thought... They bounced off each other and now I can't find neither of them :idunno

Chipmunk is on the menu this morning, if they can catch it. Breakfast just turned to fast food as they chase it round and round the house up here. Last night was a mouse.

I slept late again. Couldn't go to sleep until after 11 last night. I just feel so tired. I'm trying to get things done around here, but find that I have to take a few days "off." Yesterday I worked on untangling the mess that is ear tags and sheep papers. I typically don't send papers with the percentage ewes when I take them to auction, so don't need the ear tags that are listed on the papers. I had a lot of "used but not used" tags and had to trace them down and throw them away. I figured out tags for the young ewes that will be registered and they will get their ear tags. I have a bunch of ear tags that start with 23 for the year 2023, so I'll use them for the percentage ewes. Still lots more to work on today. I have 17 young ewes out there to get paperwork done on.

@RR Homestead you might want to step it up and get your cows moved as soon as possible. California is a border state and screwworms are heading your way. I don't know how far they are from the California border, but they are only 57 miles from Texas. Once they enter the state, other states could close their borders to us like we closed our borders to cattle from Mexico. Right now, you can get health papers and it is fairly easy to move cattle interstate. After screwworms hit, it's going to be a lot harder. I don't know your circumstances, but your husband might need to retire now so y'all can get this move done. If he is waiting on a specific date, then you need to go now with the cattle. List your home ASAP and get out of there. He may need to rent an apartment until his retirement date, if the home sells soon. Take the beef cattle, spend a few days getting them settled in, go back for another load of beef cattle until you get them all HOME. Then take the dairy cattle since they need more daily interaction and care. Or maybe he just needs to stay behind until the house sells to keep squatters out. After the meeting I went to last night, this screwworm situation is going to be bad any way you look at it. You are in a border state, it will be worse for you (and me). Because of the squatter situation, you probably need to take the cattle now and husband should stay behind until the house sells. Get your cows out and take them home.

I've been sitting here wanting another cup of coffee........ Since the magic fairy isn't going to bring it to me, guess I will have to drag a$$ and go get it myself.
