OMG - I just bought some avocado honey a couple weeks ago. Yup darker and more molasses like.In FL the bees used in avocado orchards is dark and almost molasses like. Yummy! I personally liked it more than the orange grove types. On pancakes, oh my!
That sounds amazing. I'm really looking forward to next spring. We are surrounded by apple, cherry, Apricot and peach orchards and we have almonds, peaches, cherries, plums, apricots and crabapples on our property. I can't wait to get some honey from all of those different varieties. Then the black locust blooms and finally the Russian olives. When we lived in Lindale, there was an old man with a vegetable stand, selling fruit and vegetables from his own garden. He had a peach orchard. And he had bees. The early spring honey was light golden and tasted like peaches! Best honey ever!

I'd like to try that. It's amazing the variety of flavor profiles you get from different nectar sources.OMG - I just bought some avocado honey a couple weeks ago. Yup darker and more molasses like.
The gal I buy honey from says that the avocado is very similar to the buckwheat. I'll have to try her buckwheat and compare. That sounds amazing. I'm really looking forward to next spring. Our final nectar flow will be from a buckwheat field about 1.5 miles from our place, in about 6 weeks. That honey is very dark and strong flavored. A neighbor shared some with us many years ago. Don't think I liked it very much, but it's supposed to be very good for you.
