Saturday afternoon... was 64 and up to 87... partly sun and humid so quite sticky out earlier... Clouds have moved in more.. showers on the radar are skirting this area but mostly staying more north ....

I got home around 11:30 last night, which is normal... farmer is going to have a hernia operation so not as bad as a recurrence of the prostate situation so far... that is why they had to get it done this week.

I was tired and have had little "umph" today. Several of the turkeys had flown over the top of the window pane so I opened it up for them to go out and explore. I did not put the heat lamp on them last night...Put their food in the calf hutch so hope they all come back in...

Got the bottles in racks for tomorrow... going to take laundry and do it in the big machines so I do not have to do so many loads.... hit and miss showers for tomorrow and then Monday supposed to be decent...
Tues farm has been backed up to Monday... DS has to have a driver for the appt on Tuesday... seems she is not available... He has one on Monday morning, but we will be back in time and I will have everything in car ready to go. Have to be there around 3... and since I just used all 24 meters the other day, and 10 again last night, they will not have to do a sanitize so I can be a little later to set up and not cause any problems. We should be back from that appt Monday by 1... so should be okay... cramming stuff in...

No mowing until after Wed at least.. showers off and on the next couple of days... We only got about .25 inch here in rain gauges yesterday... they got a couple inches in the downpours 10 miles north...
It's cooling off so I am going to go outside and do a little weed eating out at the garden area...

Testing tomorrow morning...... Have to leave at 4 to be there by 5, no set up...

Hearing some thunder but it looks to be north of here... Put the car windows up in case. It is cooling a little so will go out in a little bit if it doesn't rain and see about the weed eating...

@Baymule ..... mine stay down during the day unless rain is in the possible forecast... anything with the rain guards stay down that little bit... Don't leave them down at night on purpose, since I never know what stray cats might come around....but I have forgotten them a few times.

Went to work at 4 a.m., rain on the way up... the roads were wet here when I left... pretty much quit then POURED down for about 10 minutes around 6-6:30.... sprinkly stuff when I left and drove into another downpour for about 10-15 miles... Got home and it wasn't raining so got chickens done, turkeys fed and watered and let out...
Dumped .5 out of the rain gauge when I got home... The sun tried to peek out for a little but it is cloudy again now... more sporadic showers this afternoon.

Somewhere, I must've gotten bit by a deer tick... have had the classic "bullseye" on my stomach. I have had 2 ticks that were attached, but they were on my ear and one just barely attached on my arm a couple weeks ago...the typical "dog tick" type...... but never saw or felt the one that bit me here and it did not stay attached. Supposedly this is the classic sign of the tick that you get Lyme Disease from...
ANY INSIGHTS from anyone?????? I never even thought about a tick bite when I first saw the red circle... it was right after we had worked some cattle and I figured it was just a bruise... get lots of bruises that I have no idea where they come from...part of working cattle and such.... but it developed into a more red ring, lighter interior of circle pink skin color, and a spot in the middle of that... Lyme can be very debilitating... my mom and DS have had it... So, I guess I need to talk to a dr... I think if you catch it early, antibiotic treatment will kill it before it gets "a hold" in your system....not a fan of alot of antibiotics, but DS has had relapses several years... he never knew he had gotten it until they found it in some blood work... explained some of the headaches, body aches, lethargy, etc.... he had been suffering through....

Sun is trying to come out again... Radar showing some serious rain by 4 pm...
Going to go out and do a few things outside while it is not raining...

I'd head to a clinic for meds. Get it fast! They say fast treatment usually leaves no problems from Lyme. You don't want this stuff with all those new knees & ankle!!!

Most cases of Lyme disease can be treated with 10-14 days of antibiotics. People treated with appropriate antibiotics in the early stages of Lyme disease usually recover rapidly and completely.Aug 16, 2024

Doing some research on Lyme and treatments... actually a local dr here that has high ratings, and will start with her... but looking into a couple other treatment options... Will start with some phone calls tomorrow...
I did take a couple of pictures of it the other day... it is starting to fade now...

Got a pretty good shower just a little bit ago... Turkeys actually were smart enough to go back in the calf hutch... so I put the window up to keep them in so they don't decide to come out again and then not go in if it rains near dark.

DS has an appt in the morning... then a trip to Rural King as he wants to get a couple complete wheels for the wheel rake... by the time you buy the extra tines to put in, you can pay about $25-30 more and get the whole wheel / tines and all. One is cracked so just a matter of time... so will replace the cracked one, and one other that is bent a little... and then have all the tines in those 2 wheels to use as replacement tines for the future. They can break if you hit rocks and sometimes it is nearly impossible to miss some of the ledge in the fields while raking... going around some tight corners will bend them the wrong way since the rake is so long, and it can cause them to snap also. Part of the expense of raking hay in the hilly, rocky areas of some fields. If it were flat and straight like some of the plains states, I would probably get bored and fall asleep raking hay.

I have been missing one of the Naragansett turkeys for 2 days... figured it was gone. But I have been hearing some peeping... and finally found it in the carport... stuck behind some boxes that I had to squeeze in and try to move... all stacked in the back and I was NOT going to take all the stacks of stuff out... and this stuff is PACKED in there.. so how it got in there I have no idea. It was a stretch, but I managed to get it out... and put it in the hutch and it went to eating... they have water too so guess he will recover. Same dumb bell that has gotten out and "lost" twice before... remember I found him out in the tall grass the day after I moved them into the calf hutch... Well, he better get his act together or he might be left out next time to be a meal for the wildlife... It was NOT fun squeezing in between the boxes and the T-111 type panels that closed in the back and the other stuff stuck in there... another day he would have died for sure. If I can keep him from doing stupid stuff like this, the rest seem very content to go out on the grass and stick around close to the calf hutch... go back in to eat, and were in when it started to rain...

Went to an 80th birthday party for a neighbor up the road... met up with some other friends... low key and nice to visit and ate a nice meal of buffet food... low key, real nice.

Had a quick downpour this afternoon before going to the party... got about .3 inch... then it cleared off and was bright sun... radar shows it moving out...

Have to leave at 5:30 to meet DS in Lexington to go to the dr appt in Blacksburg. He is at her house tonight, of course. I will take the packed samples from Fri eve and the ones from this morning and drop them at UPS on the way back from the dr appt. I will put the sample bottles in the car for tomorrow afternoon... so I can just come home and change into work clothes and go to work.

Going to bed early, I did not get much sleep last night.
