@fuzzi, yes @Finnie is right... they got loaded on the trailer and moved back to the pasture where I had gotten them caught up the other day... simply because they will come back to the nurse cow pasture (snyder's) to calve... but I have the 13 there that calved this fall, and they have to get moved to winter fields to get bred for next year's calf... Nothing here is now "leadable" as far as cattle go... and way too far on way too busy roads to try to drive them down the road like a "cattle drive"... we used to do that with cattle from one place to another that was about a mile or so... dirt roads.... half a dozen friends to block off some driveways and turn the cattle up the other road....
Just got off the tractor... all the hay is raked... except the little bit by his house... he can do that himself.

DS had raked the little piece down where we made the last hay... the guy asked if he would cut it and take it so he said yes... He then brought the rake to Deb's and I took him back to get his truck...The hay is totally dry... he can bale all of it...

I came in to eat a "late lunch" sandwich at 3:45..... Got the clothes off the line, going to go get another 5 gal bucket of chicken feed from the bin to fill the turkey feeder and refill their waterers. Got stuff to put in the explorer... some cardboard boxes broken down for possible chicken purchases... my pull behind little wagon/cart in case I need it...
Checked the heifer with the new calf earlier before I got on the tractor/rake... Calf was laying quiet and heifer came over to see what I was doing... I have not seen it nurse, but it seemed quite content. I am going to go back up there and check her again... I would like to see it nurse her once....

So, off I go to get the chicken feed and get that done while it is daylight... have to fill the explorer with gas after the dr appt trip yesterday....
Thank you. I've learned much about cattle just reading posts like yours...enough to realize I don't know much!

Met @Finnie ...had a great visit....seems my phone will not load the pic she sent to me. Had someone take pics of us on her phone. Tried every which way....the file is not jpg but something like heic... Won't load for me. So, will have to get @Finnie to upload that one..
But here are a few I took with my phone. Over 8000 birds ...big ABA National meet. Some breeds I never heard of trying to get some recognition in steps to become accepted in the assoc to be shown....some others very rare that were shown. Several of buttercups that are seldom seen and these had combs that were pretty good bantams. Some dyed these silkies....took a lot of work to do that. Food color dyes that will eventually just fade/wash out somewhat and then change back to normal once they've moulted. The awards table and a couple pics of the sales area ...

Nice rooster, I see they had a lock on his cage.

My DD has an iPhone, I can't always get her photos to load.

Yes I think @Finnie 's phone is an iPhone... Mine is android . She took some pics of speckled Sussex for you @fuzzi . I have a bunch more pics.....some nice turkeys....
Bought 2 trios of big NH's.... Looked seriously at a some NH bantams.... But didn't do it. Think I should have. Oh well.....
VA poultry breeders show in 2 weeks. Might be some stuff there from a VA breeder of NH bantams. I'm going to text him to see what he has.
Want to get a bunch of chicks hatched this coming year ....

Tired out, was a long day mostly on my feet wandering around ..got there pretty early to look at birds cooped for show.....then looked at a lot of birds with @Finnie too..... Learned a bit about some of the color genes she is crossing and how they express.....
Looked at the little serema bantams....they make me smile at their little chest puffed out stance. Like a little young kid that is puffing out his chest and bragging and swaggering around.
And there were some turkin bantams .. Naked necks... They are so "ugly"; they are almost cute.... But they were pretty good ones. Glad some people have/like some of these rarer breeds.
