Wales has 3 times as many sheep as people.....I have 53, and therefore don't exactly classify as a big keeper . I thought to log onto this forum as I have been using (to great advantage) BackYardChickens for over 5 years.

My sheep are Blue Faced Leicesters, Beulah Speckled Face (local mountain sheep), and mules (since 2007).

I admit (a little shamefacedly) to keeping runts and misfits.

I always end up with my arm deep inside sheep during difficult lambings as hubby says his 'hands are too big'....

Welcome to BYH Sheepshape!

I can't wait to read your posts about shepherding in Wales. I always hear a lot about how many sheep there are in Wales. We have a friend who comes to our farm to train horse riders and he is originally from Wales. He always tells us old stories about growing up around many, many sheep.

:welcome

Thank you so much.

We live in an isolated valley, with sheep visible over 360 degrees (mainly the hardy types as the climate can be very challenging). Plenty of liver fluke due to the wet conditions, but no Schmallenberg so far (insect vectors find it a bit chilly).

Plenty of characters in the area! Lots of stories.

I'm looking forward to looking up the forums appropriate to our 40 acres.

Nothing small about having 40 plus sheep. Good for you. Welcome to BYH. Do you watch Shaun the Sheep cartoons perchance?
