I had a great time visiting with @canesisters , @farmerjan , and @Mini Horses yesterday. I think I would have really enjoyed sitting around and just talking about herds and flocks and stuff.

@canesisters was a lovely hostess, and I felt at home in her house, enjoyed seeing her gardens, and meeting Eva. And her kitties.

But I was glad to be home. And the chickens were glad I was home, as well. My sitter makes sure they have plenty of food and water, but didn't bring them wild strawberries.

This afternoon I ripped out the pea vines that fell over a couple days ago. I was able to finish stripping them of pods between rain showers.

It was only two cups of peas after shelling, but I blanched and froze them for a later date.

Absolutely save the peas! Waste not, want not.

I saw you excited about the egg holders yesterday but never thought why -- for bantam eggs!! Well, I never thought about the egg size either. But I do have a small hen -- 1/2 bantam ?? Given to me as a month old -- anyway, yes her eggs are not always easy to remove from the cartons! I know it's hers, it smaller & green ☺️

I've been thinking, trying to figure out the best locations for the plants I brought back home with me.

Easiest I think are the Columbines. They like some shade, moist.

Right side (north) of small shed ⬆️

Obedient plants like sun to partial shade.

⬆️ Along the short section of fence, north side of house, front yard side.

Iris like sun. I'm thinking of working in compost and peat moss along the back of the house, where the Canna lilies aren't as established.

I can rehome some of the Canna lilies, or plant irises in sections, alternating with the lilies.

I could also put some of the iris in the bird feeder garden.

Space is available where ⬆️ the grass clippings are.
The Cannas can be thinned, moved.

The yarrow loves sun...how about along the outer edges of the elderberry area?

But the Rose of Sharon need a good permanent spot. They like sun but are okay with a little shade. Maybe I could place them along the north fence to give me some screening from the nextdoor neighbor.

Far right on photo above.

Just thinking. :caf
