I’m going to guess that orange and purple bands are your cockerels. Based on leg size. Purple is the only one I can see any appreciable amount of comb. I wouldn’t be surprised if you ended up with all girls, but of course it’s too early to make any real predictions.

Edit: and actually I looked again, and pink and yellow have the shortest tails. Again, those are things I would look at more in the 3 week old and up age. I’m going to guess you have half pullets. ;)

Thanks!

I've not had OEGB before, will be happy to get any pullets. Boys will go to auction.

Green has a cockerel stance, imo. ⬇️

I hope they're not all boys...

Fun watching the chicks, seeing their personalities emerging.

Boys to the left, girls to the right?

Just for fun, I'm guessing...

Pink - girl
Yellow - girl
Orange - girl

Blue - boy!
Green - boy
Purple - boy

This has to be a boy!

So...I put Sussex eggs in the incubator 8 days ago. I prefer to use a broody, but was resigned to raising them myself if necessary.

This is Rahab, two hours ago.

I went outside to gather her egg and any others that had been laid.

She's still in the nesting box...

I went outside early this morning, not too bad, so I did some stuff.

I dug up chicken run dirt, filled two small carts (about 10 gallons), then dumped most in a raised bed that needs it.

Then I weeded and side-dressed with run dirt the irises I transplanted a couple months ago. They're actually looking better!

By that point I was soaked with sweat, so I went inside. I know my limitations.

Rahab was out with the others this afternoon, but was IN the nesting box this evening!
:celebrate

I'll wait before moving any of the incubator eggs. They're fine where they are, until I am SURE of her broodiness.

And I made 4 loaves of bread, again.

It is SO yummy.
