Was speaking with DS last night, agreed that at least we're already stocked up, prepared.

I was remembering that while I was in Connecticut last summer I stopped at an old time hardware store to inquire about purchasing a snow shovel.

The clerk obligingly went into storage to get me one, which I bought.

The shovel? Or the hardware store?

Stores in SC and ENC generally don't sell snow shovels. If you find one that does there is no choice, they will have one style, two in stock, during the winter.

When we moved to SC in '88 I didn't take my worn out snow shovel. For the most part we didn't need it.

Fast forward to February 2017. My MIL died, and we rented a car to drive to Connecticut for the funeral. Forecast was for snow, so when we arrived I went to a local hardware store and picked up a travel snow shovel, one that was a little smaller, so it would fit in the car trunk.

We got over a foot of snow overnight, think 16" was the final total.

The car was dug out, and the motel parking lot was cleared, but the secondary roads weren't plowed, and the wind picked up...white out conditions.

We drove 900 miles and didn't go to the funeral.

I must be at the top of Mother Nature's naughty list! A week of unbelievable cold and ice. A week of below freeze temps (34 for an hour doesn't count) and of course water toting, ice breaking. I'm tired of 12-15* mornings....Wed was actually 7 !!! Today they're saying to expect snow this weekend, 3+"
Really ??!??! I've suffered enough. This is brutality.

Not near as cold as they predicted... said it was going to be down to 0 or +1.. It was only 9 this morning... so feel a bit fortunate...
Yeah, it's winter...
Possible snow this weekend but looks to stay over near the coast more... Sorry @Mini Horses ... I would just as soon get the snow as we need it.. and it would eventually get this hard concrete like ice thawed a bit if it did snow on top of it... I need to get out there with the straight blade thing and chip away at the limited area to open the chicken pens... get the hard stuff chopped back some...

I sincerely hope they're wrong. But I'd rather deal with snow than ice.

They are still being very IFFY here, because of the possible "tracking" ... but the further east, the more you are going to get in comparison to us here...
Yep, snow is better than ice... except when it is on TOP of that ice...
