It’s gone so much smoother than I had hoped.
Squirt has definitely chosen me as her person. She will say Hi to Randy, Hi to Tom, Hi to whoever she sees but then immediately comes and jumps up to sit with me ❤
She’s so clingy and needy we could be twins!
She spent the night back to back with me, sharing my pillow, then when I moved to the recliner, so did she, meanwhile, both Fen and Boone took over my side of the bed. She follows me like my shadow. She’s pretty much figured out her name is now “Squirt” and is pretty good about coming when I call her. She knows sit and that’s all, though she continually reaches out a front foot so I assume she was taught to “shake” which is not something I like to do. It took her awhile this morning to figure out “down” but after a couple repetitions she’s figuring it out pretty quickly. She is terrified of clicker noise, even if I simply cluck. She ducks, runs and hunches herself over, shutting down completely. She also panicked when she crawled under the side table and I asked “whatcha doin’?” Idk if she got scared because I spoke while she was under it or at the phrase itself.
Starting from scratch but she’s a quick study and when she barks or startles, she only barks once which is awesome as I don’t care for barky dogs.
I guess Boone was a little jealous after all, as when she got up to explore, he immediately took her place…on my lap!
After they went outside for their morning constitutionals and she did some exploring, they came inside, he took ok up his favorite spot by the door after kisses and she took up her favorite spot next to me
