I’m really happy with my yearling Border Leicester ewes, both the whites and blacks. They’re all built really nicely and have gorgeous fleeces.
Gorgeous crimp on that fleece.

Our young Anatolian occasionally still runs with the sheep if they take off running. She doesn't bite them or try to play but seems to race with them which makes them run faster. I think she is trying to get ahead of them in case there is something there which is dangerous. If they walk, she ignores them. Problem is that when we open the gate from the night fold the sheep race out - heaven help you if you are standing behind the gate, they bang into it and crash it into you! Today she ran out with them and MoyBoy ram (in with them for breeding) turned and chased her off! LOL He usually just ignores her.

I’ve been awake since around 0430 which is rough for someone who works 2nd shift and doesn’t usually fall asleep until at least midnight. We had storms rolling through around then, lots of wind, rain, and some hail. I think the hail is what woke me up.

Of course I checked the barn cameras. Fiona’s due date is today and I figured with the storms, she was extremely likely to lamb today. Sure enough, she started acting like she was in labor at 0530. I went out at 0700 when she pushed out the first water bag.

She had twins. The first was a boy, I was almost upset with her for a minute because he came out all spotty, but then she had the 2nd and it was a girl and just as spotty!

The ram is a moorit (brown), HST (white head stripe, white socks, and white tail), gulmoget (dark body, light undercarriage).

The ewe is the same as the ram except black instead of moorit.

Pictures to follow later once the light is better and they are dry and fluffy.

Root and Twig 💕

Root - boy

Twig - girl

I think their momma must really love me. She gave me pretty twin girls last year and pretty babies this year.

Next up are 3 Border Leicesters - Finna, Kindie, and P-Ewe on 3/5, 6, and 7.

Finna historically has had only singles, but she’s wide this year so I wouldn’t be surprised at twins.

Kindie had triplets her 1st lambing, twins her 2nd. She’s big, but I’m only expecting 2.

P-Ewe had triplets last year and is just as big this year so she may do it again.
