I think I would do as you said you are tempted... BUT... get paid to date... and then tell him that since he is set up to do all this himself, you "repectfully" resign and will work on your own projects...
Does he have any experience in doing all these things????

I don't have the answers for you possibly losing clients... BUT.... if he cannot build his own house, and hired you instead... BUT then he is going to go into the excavation business.. with no actual PROOF he is capable... then let him and see what happens... Thing is, can you financially manage for awhile if he does this crap????

I am tired of dealing with STUPID.... KNOW IT ALL ......IDIOTS.... God Bless you for even trying....
This is good. ⬆️⬆️⬆️

No he doesn't have any experience, but out here there is a lot of this is good enough. Though I'm sure there will be a lot of clean ups after him. Went and looked it up last night on the machine he won there is a key detail he missed and what makes me successful besides just experience on this equipment, I'm a diesel mechanic. This machine has two blown hydraulic cylinders, I'm booked till the season ends and he can't fix it. Wait till an injection pump schits the bed, then it will get real interesting. Another thing, I have a way to move my equipment, at 20k lbs, it's not something you just hook up to a single rear wheel truck. Lastly I own the rock out here and only one can haul other types of rock I don't own.

Yes I can financially manage no matter what happens. This business isn't in debt and I have skills in more ways than one can think of to make funds.
Just think, this POS went for $565, I know I can build way better with steel structures and these types.

Was going to get a glulam beam for his house at this auction, but he got in the middle of it wanting to pay what the auction was ending at never mind me making a commission in finding it, or the experience I have in knowing it is structurally sound for this project from experience and knowing the engineering if it could span his house. So I backed off and now he is going to have to pay full price and going to have to drive 6 hours for one, plus my time to make what is in store work. Instead of glulam beam, I am having to make 6 LVL (laminated veneer lumber) boards into one beam.

2 blown cylinders and he doesn't know how to repack them? Where's the nearest cylinder repair shop? Does he even know how to get them off? No way to haul it, how does he think he's gonna get it from job to job? Hahaha!!! He'd been better off to get a backhoe, it's on wheels and he could use a heavy duty flatbed to haul it, do the littler jobs.

And now Mr. Brilliance went for the make your own beam. What a dummy. My favorite saying, YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID.

What @farmerjan says x 1000!
Yep. Owning equipment & knowing how to use it -- waaay different. Plus results of jobs depend on procedures, support, safety, experience. I see a person who owns equipment -- awaiting disaster.
So true. I don't want to own any equipment that we only use for a couple jobs and have to maintain. The tractor was necessary and we will keep it maintained like our truck and trailers. We can't work on them ourelves, but if we get the reapairs done as soon as something breaks, it works. DH used to do all our car maintenance himself, but when they started putting all the conputer stuff in he had to stop.

You are in the unique position of being able to do your own maintenance to keep your equipment going. That saves yu a lot of $$$ and time. You won't ose any business once he underbids you and screws things up. You can charge more to do the job right because you will have to "repair" his mistakes. LOL I can see lawsuits in his future!
