I second that!!omg I could not have a dog with that much drive!!![]()
Why I don't have border collies! Well, one of the reasons.I second that!!
Have had a dump pile growing in the driveway for a few weeks now while that trailer was repaired (wiring and lights issues) and we worked on other things. Grass growing up all around it and the sides of the driveway. Embarrassing. Feels good to get things looking a bit better and making progress again towards packing/moving. DH plans on starting to pack for his trip too. He's trying to figure all he needs to take to work on everything he's planning to tackle. Not sure what else we'll tackle tonight. Maybe I'll just wander the property trying to whistle.

I've lost count how many times I've said that about them! Why I don't have border collies! Well, one of the reasons.
Maybe two decades or so ago I trialed one for about a week. Started puppy. I really thought one would be a good addition to our ranch and I needed the help moving our cattle due to health issues. Holy moly the energy. Nope. We just flat don't have enough constant work for one and with our schedule taking them for a run around the ranch daily wan't going to happen. Our cattle mostly come when called anyways it's more sorting/moving help I was looking for. Too much drive for our uses. The pup got a fantastic larger ranch home and we got two new heeler pups.
We've had heelers for decades. Love them with all my heart. Can't wait to get our new puppies once we're moved. My dream "pet" has been a corgi since I showed them as a kid. Never got one. We discussed it when we suddenly lost our last healer recently. The health issues they have really had delayed getting one. They've become very popular pets and bred down so their herding isn't really great anymore for the most part. Of course there are good breeders out there for herding but they seem to be hard to come by.You're talkin' my language now!! As I was reading I was going to suggest and ACD - and you already have/know/etc! Great tough "little" dogs. Corgis are good as well. I know a bull contractor for PBR who had one (or Corgi mix) That dog was amazing. I've got shots of him working when they were rounding up and castrating/vaccinating/etc.
ROTFL Border Collie - the OCD king/queen of the dog world (generalization of course).
Shepherd's whistle -- you can clean the nooks and crannies with a tooth pic, and put it in the dishwasher or soak overnight. They do get scuzzy.
I learned on one of those red plastic ones. Same way you're planning -- driving. First sounds are .... pitiful - but yahoo moments. Of course that's paired with spit on the inside of the windshield
My shepherd's whistle is silver, geeze it must be around 30 yrs old now. I've got a nice lanyard for it and it hangs on the leash rack when I'm not using it.
So that's what is all over the inside of my windshield.

The first one I bought was the ACME nickel silver whistle. Tastes nasty. I've barely made an actual sound with it in 6 months. The one I ordered is a Logan A1 silver anodized aluminum whistle with rope lanyard. Allegedly this kit comes with a link to the "Logan Whistle Command Sound Guide" Hoping i'll have some success this time.
