If you're building your own that makes sense. If you're struggling to make ends meet with small children to feed renting a mobile home is way better than a cheap apartment surrounded by druggies and drunks. I liked the buffer zone provided by a single dwelling unit, too.

Gee, y'all are way out in front of me. I waited all my life to be trailer trash! Y'all beat me to it!I grew up in one, I understand all well. 12 x 60 with two other siblings that had only 2 bedrooms in an area when it rained enough my dad was out there kayaking around the neighborhood.

I grew up in travel trailers & tents, my parents, 2 brothers and I. Once in awhile my parents would rent a house or we'd stay in a motel. We loved going to my grandparents house, because we had our own rooms and nobody else ever stayed in them. It was always just how I left it.I grew up in one, I understand all well. 12 x 60 with two other siblings that had only 2 bedrooms in an area when it rained enough my dad was out there kayaking around the neighborhood.

We were fruit tramps! My dad couldn't stay in one place. In the winter he'd do construction or work in the oil fields. As soon as the cherries were ready to be picked, we'd be pulled out of school early and hit the road. California to Montana. We even went to Florida to work in the citrus groves, picking apples and pears in Missouri and other states along the way. I went to over 12 different schools, many of them more than once. I've been to over 28 states and lived in almost half of them. There's quite a story you haven't shared with us!![]()

I truly am!What an adventurous childhood. Then a stable, safe and loving husband. You are blessed.
I'm so glad he arrived safely.
You're so busy, he'll be back before you know it. I don't like being away from my husband either.
Have a good night!![]()
I am very glad too. What's funny is I was far less worried about him driving there than I am when he's driving to and from work. That is really crazy to me. Thank you!I'm happy and excited for you two!

This house seems to have been pretty well kept too. I always said I'd never live in another mobile home but here I am. This one is far nicer than I lived in as a kid though. I refuse to have wood paneling every again. This one has real looking walls. They do need a new coat of paint though. This place is so much nicer than our current 1800's home. It's a major upgrade for us. Far bigger too.Coffee is ready. I've got the heating pad on the small of my back. I took 2 tramadol yesterday morning so I could go teach my class of 3 little kids and stay for the sermon. Took a muscle relaxer last night at bedtime. I'm really tired of this crap.
@RR Homestead I live in a 1998 doublewide manufactured home. I don't care what fancy moniker they hang on it, it's still a mobile home.![]()

The previous owners built on a utility room and installed a 50 gallon propane water heater. They also moved the washer dryer connections to it, leaving a space where the washer dryer used to be. I built shelves as deep as the washer dryer and put my canning stuff in it. They also did not cut the vinyl siding at the point of where the new utility room meets the outside of the home. They laid a 2x4 over it, leaving gaps. First thing I noticed when I got the keys was this blast of hot air. The outside AC unit sits right outside and was blowing hot air, the utility room was sucking it right in. Kinda late to correct that. I used nearly 30 tubes of caulk to plug all the holes, inside and out. The house was well cared for, I don't need a fancy half million dollar house to impress anybody, I'm perfectly happy. Plus the county depreciates it so taxes are ridiculously cheap. I textured the walls and painted the inside because I despise mobile home walls with those cutesy print on plastic walls. Your manufactured home has a basement? Mine sits on blocks, tied to concrete runners. The water table is too high for a basement. Back to the water heater, your husband will figure it out and put in a new one that meets your needs. Mobile home stuff is stupid, gotta buy special stuff just for a mobile home. But I don't care. I'm just a Redneck Double Wide Diva.

Nailed me to a T!

Last of my 3dy weekend. Chores shortly and double check some fence changes from yesterday. It's a damp cold out there this morning, after rains last night. Low 40s but a good wind going on. That makes it go thru ya. Warm inside -- invitingI've got coffee to finish before I suit up and get working out there.
@RR Homestead glad hubs got there ok and remember he's doing some things that need doing! It won't be too long before y'all are there. Transporting a farm takes a LOT of effort & time.. You'll question the decision until you get time to spend there. Then you'll hate the "clean up" trips to old farm. A real disruption to life style for a period of time. Hopefully, summer will see an end to it.
Thank you! He is doing a lot already. He sounds so different already it really makes me happy. He got (temporary) camera's up which I watched all night last night. We have deer all over. It was fun watching them wander around grazing all night. Going to be a relief to keep an eye on things from so far away while we finish the move.I love him and have never heard or seen that video before! Going to share that with DH.I grew up in one, I understand all well. 12 x 60 with two other siblings that had only 2 bedrooms in an area when it rained enough my dad was out there kayaking around the neighborhood.
Going to share this with DH in the morning. I use a lot of hot water and really do need HOT water for the dairy stuff.Look into a tankless on demand water heater..... Most dairies here use them and they have an endless amount of hot water for the tank washing and hot water to use.
Going to share this with DH in the morning. Thanks for the info and the link! Super helpful! While at it put a recirculating hot water line pump in too with a controller such as Leridian Dynamics. Blip the hot water on/off and within a few seconds without wasting gallons of water you got hot water at any spigot. They also can be set up on an interval.
Here is a cheap one

Did some more deep cleaning in the kitchen as well. Still a long way to go in the house but a little more packed and a bit more organized.
Bwahaha! My stack builds on top of the laundry, washer and dryer....Did a ton more dishes and went through more things on the kitchen counter that had been stacking up. A stack of "when you go out to the shed or barn this needs to go" and never did items.![]()

Thank you for your input, too. I love reading about others' journeys.I hope everyone has a blessed morning! Thanks to everyone for all the support and help!![]()
