I didn't realize we were expecting rain, too.

Oops.

Rain all around!! 😂
Just a couple more things to load and we're done loading the trailer for this trip. Going to work on packing for the trip for a bit after a few minutes rest. I guess I need things like clothes and all on the trip. 😂 Started loading tools, spare tire. extra jack etc. before DH went to work. Of course as we are loading the hot wire light stops flashing. It was flashing earlier. UGH! Really!?!? DH went out to check and found the wire wrapped around the barbed wire. Usually caused by a coyote going through the fence and snagging it then getting shocked we would assume wrapping it around the wire in panic. New cat has shown up. Wasn't sure if it was male or female. Got a good view of her rear tonight. A female. Great. The neighbors tomcat that they refuse to keep home or neuter was here last night before I saw him and ran him off. He's constantly coming over and peeing on everything. I'd bet he bred her. Now I have that to worry about. The last thing we need here is kittens to try and find homes for. 30 plus years of keeping the feral cat population under control and one neighbor moves in and destroys all our time and money over the years. They refuse to alter any of their animals. It makes them less manly they say. But yet allow uncontrolled breeding, fighting and death on the road. Their dogs all run loose all over the neighborhood ticking off all the neighbors too. I can't believe their animals haven't been hit yet. The only animals they keep mostly contained is their fighting cocks. :rolleyes:The hens are always out and getting hit on the road. Just noticed today the horse trainer that leases the facilities directly across the street from us have started moving. We heard a while back they were moving out of CA and back home to OR. Looks like they are doing that now. Can't wait (complete sarcasm) to see who leases it next. The previous couple "trainers" there were absolute nightmares. From a horse/animal abuser to a druggy who went off the rails after an inheritance and took 4 years to evict and made everyone around here's lives miserable. Have I mentioned how badly we are wanting to be out of here? Hopefully we get moved faster than we expect. 🙏
Time to start chores.
Hope y'all have a blessed night! Stay warm! :hugs

May not be your "problem" to deal with much longer..... as far as the male cat goes... My solution to that problem with the neighbors cats coming over, was to trap and either take to the shelter, or just dispose of them. Mean, maybe, but if someone else is not going to take the responsibility, then if you do, you have to follow through. I was tired of the couple of cats that would come and just fight with mine, and in the nicer weather, come in the house and steal the food and actually hiss at and threaten mine for the food. Got rid of 2 big male cats and it stopped. My female is spayed, the young male I have left from the 3 that I got this summer from one of the dairies, is going to get fixed after the holidays.

Here's hoping that getting the first load moved, and unloaded goes well, and fast, and that you get back and celebrate Christmas together... on whatever day you manage... and get things wrapped up fast enough and get out of the toxic place you are in.

Is your husband going to retire??? Or is there a job possibility looking at him?

What did you decide to do about the remaining livestock? With the projected cattle prices, and now seeing where Canada also is saying they have low cattle numbers, you will not be able to replace them at even what they might bring now...

Be careful, and have a safe and UNEVENTFUL trip...

Light rains starting up....should stop about 4. 🤷 Can't stop it, so -- it'll keep raining. They did harvest the soybean next door late today, just before dark. Rushing to beat the rain! Wasn't a good yield this yr for them.

My today list was done👍 lost house keys during chores. After a long re-walk over morning stuff, found them at front trailer where I had started! 🙄 Just glad I found. DS got truck maintenance completed...Yah!!...then worked on tractor and finally, got that sorted out 🤞🤞 at least it seemed to be running well & tomorrow we will crank it up and test it when being used. 🙏🙏🤞🤞 Hopeful isn't strong enough to express my emotion for that! 🙃. Had issues finding some parts at reasonable $$

Truck has been on jacks, weather!, so gratefully went for hay. Chores by headlamp tonight but that's fine. I'll be up at daybreak pacing....waiting to get last of parts back on tractor -- anxious. I'll run a couple errands while DS does that & keep myself out of the way. My tractor has been down for about 3 months now. Frustrating. So very needed to use. And home with no job work.

Believe it or not it's actually illegal in CA to do anything with someones cat or chickens. I do hear you though for sure. I even offered to pay to neuter him when he was in one of our traps. They guarantee'd they'd do it themselves and then changed their mind because it would make him less manly.

Thank you. This will be my first christmas since we met that we won't at least be together for a few hours before work. We still work on all holidays but it's hitting me hard to not at least see him on christmas. You are right about the toxic place. That's for sure.

He will have to work for a while until this place sells and we get our part of it to pay off the mortgage. Unless it sells lightening fast before he's even fully moved there. We don't really know how it will all work but yes there's a likely job there that really isn't effected by the bad employment times were in. The hope is very short term at the most. Have the ranch for what income we need and him retire. I'm hoping to be able to do some breeding on the side for people to make some extra income as well. Then he can work on vehicles as he chooses in "retirement". Make some money that way and from the livestock we will still have there. My goal is to have him be able to retire. That's been my goal for years.

Interesting on the canada numbers. Haven't seen anything about that yet. Going to have to look into that. We are going to take what we have left here with us. You keep talking sense into me. Haha. I'll be reaching out to the hauler who lives in MO and see what he would charge to haul the beef cattle for me. He can do it in one run and I trust him to get them there safe and healthy. I'll be hauling the horse and the dairy cattle myself. I do have an offer from a friend to tag team drive there with her. She's willing to fly in and drive there with me and fly home from there. That's a HUGE ask so while I'm keeping it as an option it's not what I'm hoping for. It's looking like i'll be having to stop and milk the heifer all the way there anyways as things are looking right now. 🤦‍♀️ I have a post on my nurse cow thread on the cattle forum if you'd like to chime in. I'm struggling with what to do with the cow on that thread right now and the heifer coming due end of january. I do not see being there by then with her. She's not a candidate to sell as she's DH's precious poopsy.

Thank you. DH is insisting on a full nights rest before I go. Not sure if I'll leave saturday or sunday. Have help lined up end of the week as of now to unload the heavy things. Should be there christmas eve or christmas. Not sure yet. If I get there christmas eve I could go to church with the previous owners for christmas service. That would be really nice. We'll see how it goes. Need to do a test drive still and be sure we have weight distributed well. That will happen tomorrow. Hopefully we aren't having to unload and reload.

I hope your home and all is ok. You definitely picked a good time to be away (though I'm guessing you'd want to be there to make sure everything at home is ok).
Thank you! 💗
Our son said it didn't hit our place as hard as other areas. Everything is good. If he hadn't been there to take care of a few things for us, I would have been more worried.

Today was so beautiful. A little windy, but plenty of sun. Here are a few pictures I took as we went around the lake. We started at the south end.
