After the first day Fen just wanted to go home. He wasn’t himself. He hated being inside a house all day. He was a good boy but clearly anxious and missing Randy. He spent the entire trip in front of the door, staring at me, intensely. Every chance we got, he’d run to the truck. He was a really good boy but didn’t want to task, which isn’t unusual 😂
He’s gotten to where he works well for me as long as Randy goes with us. I feel like it was unfair to separate them for a week and he didn’t provide the companionship I needed so I feel like there’s no point in taking him along in the future.
There were a few incidents of old people and their dogs on flexis that threatened Fen. If it had been Boone, I’m sick over what might have happened. I would not have been able to hold him due to the pain I was in the entire trip as there wasn’t a single piece of furniture that didn’t hurt my hips. Had I taken Boone, which I would have if not for his road terror, there would have been an incident with serious consequences. I’m afraid I could have been sued and it could have cost Boone his life. The road terror might have saved him, and I thank God for that.

I need a third dog. One that is affectionate, that is happy going places and isn’t dog aggressive. I don’t think I will get the English Shepherd I have been praying for. I’m probably going to have to go with one of the “fab 4” breeds that are common for Service work. (Lab, Golden, Standard poodle, GSD)
I’m not excited about the thought of any of those breeds.
I could use some prayer that God would send the dog I need. Pleeeeez

I'd say that paving that road would solve the issue but, don't see that happening. 🥴. I don't suppose there is any flat land adjacent to road to use? Is the road just full of potholes?

Could/would a different set of springs on the truck help? Different shocks/struts, or whatever is on there, be replaced & help? 🤔 You can see I'm thinking.

I think its the noise. There’s no avoiding vibration etc on unpaved roads It’s rough even though it’s regularly graded as this is an exceptionally rocky area. I contacted my sister and am seeking out Golden breeders. I love the ES, but don’t think there are any upcoming litters close enough

Getting old sucks.

Along with all the aches and pains its not enough to be losing your vision, but to go move a long hair out of your face and find it’s attached to your upper lip…which means it had to be growing for months…
…and you never saw it.
No one mentioned it.
Hopefully because they are all going blind too…

Golden and Labs are real good dogs. Good personality and working ability.
Yes. I’ve had two Goldens in the past and my son has had labs. I just really love English Shepherds. They tick all the boxes, but it’s confirmed I won’t be getting another one. The disappointment is devastating right now as I am really struggling with things, and it just feels like one more lifetime “no” piling on. I am not in a good place.
