Heath and Fen’s breeder took her little female from the last litter to a trial today. (She’s Fen’s sister from another litter)
It was their 2nd birthday today, here’s what she posted;

“Fiona celebrated by earning her first herding title - HTAD I, herding trial arena dog level one (sheep). To sweeten the moment she got first place in a class with 3 border collies (and an Aussie), one of the BC is doing BC field trials so is much more advanced. Yay, Fi!”

Such neat dogs. Fi is a pretty sable with a split face that I liked. She’s a super athlete and has done well in agility too, winning something last week, when they only dabble.
I love this breed and am so sad I’ll never have another.

Got 4 loaves of bread baked today. 2 sourdough for Randy and 2 loaves of whole wheat from hard white berries I milled into flour last time. He likes it, and it’s easier for him to eat as his teeth aren’t good. I like both breads.

Gizmo flayed open my hand with her razor blade claws. I was already having problems because of the RA eating up all the joints in my hands and wrists. I’ve got to find a way to get her nails cut down. We’ve tried everything from the day. I brought her home. I guess I’m gonna have to come up with the money to take her to the vet and have her sedated. I’m not happy about it. I can tell you that.

Regarding trimming of nails... I saw a video clip on pinterest where the owner put a sheet of sandpaper on a board and showed the dog how to scratch the board. She made a game of it where she would scratch then the pup would scratch.

Just a suggestion.
That’s how she got me. Two different times! She literally aims for my hand, even though she gets a treat every time she uses the board. This time I wasn’t even holding it. She reached out sideways and got me. She’s very bad about batting with her front feet and I am beginning to suspect it’s why she kept winding up back in the pound
